Overview

Our client is now at a pivotal stage, with the model built and Snowflake integration completed. Investor interest is high, and with the business moving toward Series A, they are now in a position to scale their platform, invest in their structure and gain technical clarity with the focus shifting from invention to platform certainty.

The Head of Platform will bring the engineering discipline, security mindset, documentation rigour and operational maturity required to scale the platform reliably as customer usage grows. This role exists to ensure the platform behaves predictably under pressure and can support enterprise onboarding, increased user volumes and expanding AI workloads without compromise.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an engineer who has built or scaled a real platform in a startup or scale-up environment and understands what it takes to move fast while staying robust.

Role Purpose

The Head of Platform owns the architecture, reliability, security and scalability of the company’s core platform.

They are responsible for Data Central and everything that enables customers to operate safely and effectively on the platform. This includes ingestion pipelines, transformation and validation logic, access control, Snowflake and cloud integrations, and the operational workflows required to onboard and support enterprise customers at scale.

This role is about setting the engineering bar. It requires someone who brings clarity where there is complexity, introduces structure where systems grow quickly, and ensures the platform is ready not just for today’s use cases, but for future agent-based workflows and quantum-aligned architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the platform architecture across Snowflake, cloud and on-premises environments
• Take responsibility for Data Central as the backbone of customer onboarding, data flow and platform usage
• Design and improve ingestion, transformation and validation pipelines for high-volume, messy enterprise datasets
• Ensure the platform scales securely as customers increase users, workloads and integrations
• Drive performance, resilience, reliability and cost efficiency across the platform
• Establish clear engineering documentation, standards and decision frameworks
• Introduce structure and consistency into fast-moving platform workflows
• Work closely with AI testing and engineering teams to translate evaluation findings into platform improvements
• Ensure platform security, access control and data movement are robust and defensible
• Prepare the platform to support next-stage capabilities, including agent workflows and quantum-aligned designs

Non-Negotiable Requirements

• Proven experience building or scaling a platform in a startup or scale-up environment
• Engineer at heart, with strong end-to-end systems understanding
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, cloud infrastructure or equivalent modern platforms
• Background in enterprise, financial services, payments, banking or other regulated platform environments strongly preferred
• Demonstrable ownership of platform reliability, security and performance
• Strong architectural judgement and ability to design systems that scale cleanly
• Clear written communication and disciplined documentation habits
• Comfortable operating in high-expectation environments with real accountability

Nice to Have

• Experience working with secure or private data environments
• Exposure to AI systems sitting on top of enterprise platforms
• Familiarity with knowledge graphs, NLP or retrieval-based systems
• Interest in how classical AI platforms will integrate with quantum systems
• Previous experience mentoring engineers or leading platform initiatives
